I bought an Audi RS2 Avant! The RS2 is the first-ever Audi RS car, and it's my dream fast wagon -- and I'm SO EXCITED that I have one. Today I'm reviewing the RS2, and I'll show you all the quirks and features of a very, very special Audi.

  • I think I'm more excited for this car than any car I've owned before. A decade-long dream fulfilled!!!

    • My collegue has same car here in Finland in the same colour. Hasn't let me drive it even though I've been asking for 2 years now :D

    • Doug's the type of guy to be more excited over an rs2 than a ford gt lol

    • You don't deserve that car Doug

    • you need to review a Sport Quattro S1. thats THE Audi

    • just sad, it shows what you really know about cars, you choose "poorly"

  • Send it to the Ninja.

  • I read that as, "I made a poor life choice." Cool cars, but horrible experiences with Audi wagons

  • Audi: "Porsche, can you help us build a good fast wagon?" Porsche: "Sure, if we find rubbish bin big enough for all the Audi parts we are going to replace."

  • @dougdemuro If you need it repairing, you can send it to my mechanic in the UK?! He's been entrusted some major work on an RS2 in the past. If that's maybe a little bit of a hassle you can just take a look at the work he's done! You can find him on Instagram @performanceprestigederby (I tagged you 😁)

  • Doug, my old '97 Eclipse with a small 16g turbo would take to about 3200 RPM to hit full boost. By all means, at the time that was a fast-spooling turbo compared to other modified Japanese cars with much bigger turbos, but there was still some lag. I was making about 350 whp at 20 psi of boost and I still have the datalog from the track where I went 0-60 in 3.7 seconds (11.91 @ 115 mph). The trick is to rev up to 7500 RPM and just dump the clutch. Hopefully you have something strong like an ACT 2600 clutch, and a slightly modified drivetrain that won't just break when you launch it. The car will start going sideways before it starts to go forward, but that's a good sign, because it means all 4 wheels are spinning. I've never gotten a faster launch out of an AWD car.

  • Doug rocking a random ATL shirt

  • Actually Ferdinand Porsche engineered the Beatle, the first VW car and helped to build the "Autostadt Wolfsburg" - the main production facility/town for VW. He mainly started VW and of course Porsche. And there is Ferdinand Piëch, the grandson of Ferdinand Porsche. He was an engineer at Porsche, VW (Volkswagen EA 266) and Audi (Audi 100 5E, Audi Quattro), did engineering work for Daimler Benz (Mercedes 240 D 3.0) and become later Chairman of the Audi AG in 1985. So it's not that Porsche needed money alone as they helped to build the Audi RS2 , but also the relationship between these german car manufacturers (Porsche, Audi, VW). And as we know they all belong to the Volkswagen AG today.

  • Wonder if you know the Audi 200 turbos from the eighties. Same basic engine, same turbolag.

  • Cute smallish drake discs lol

  • Why does he throughout this entire video COMPLETELY disregard the BMW E34 Touring M5...??? He says this is BY FAR the most powerful station wagon etc throughout the entire video, but the fact is the 3,8 L M5 was introduced in 92(!) and they came as station wagons since 92 also... The Audi has 315 hp but the 3,8 M5 had 340, which is MORE. Then how is the Audi "BY FAR the most powerful"....? What's his deal? I'm not a fan of this guy, but he knows his stuff... So why does he forget the first M5 estate, as if it's something super rare no one has heard about...?

  • Saw you today on the freeway!!

  • geez must be bringing in the dough. 70k on an old car and from just a quick look through recently released videos at least the 3rd _i bought_ video. good for you no hate, you cant take it with you so enjoy it. 👍🏽

  • Bmw m5 e34 touring

  • Hello Sir. The RS2 is a cool car, but you claim it's the original power wagon. Did you forget to mention the BMW E34 M5 Touring? They came in 1992 with a 3.8 inline six/340 hp :-)

  • 1991 Audi 200 20vt owner here. No mine's not an rs2 but welcome to the fast classic Audi club.

  • can someone tell me what color this car is

  • lets import suzuki alto works turbo rs

  • I just got a 2001 audi tt quattro for my daily its awesome and reliability isn't that bad

  • Audi is as reliable as Range Rover. Good luck with that old boat anchor.

  • Fold the rear seat flat. I laugh at it. Thats not flat. Opel Omega B, had a real flat foldable rear seat. No stupid rear seatbottom folding, only the back part and perfect flat 190cm bed. Also, Omega had cargo cover and many other things.

  • I love it

  • We seen that top speed of 340km you ain’t slick

  • Doug the kinda guy to buy a Porsche but it's an Audi

  • Really an amazing car ! I hope you can keep it for long and preserve it.

  • M5 Touring came before this. 2Bennett Audimotive might be able to help with parts.

  • It's definitely going up in value now. Planned.

  • Did you guys know it was built by Porsche?

  • You know you made it as a HRdownr when you're buying 25 year old cars for 70 grand and adding them to your collection of new Land Rover Defender, etc.... I guess being stretched, goofy looking and a car nerd sometimes pays off. Great job Doug.

  • Can't believe how beautiful I think this car is. Love it.

  • I got the thrill of seeing one of this brand new in Ingolstadt in the 90’s. I was the weird car kid who loved German cars, especially the wolf in sheep’s clothing type of cars. This was one of my favorite cars from that era, so seeing it while visiting Audi’s new delivery center in Ingolstadt was a huge thrill! Congrats, Doug, excellent choice. You may want to get connected with Jamie Orr who may be able to source you parts. Just search him, yes sort of famous win water cooled VW world, and big on Instagram.

  • Please review an e46 328i Touring! Thank you in advance!

  • At this point they should've just pulled an slr mclaren and combined the audi and porsche name lol

  • How can you work at an Audi dealer and at least not know that it exists? :O

  • please stop saying porsche, dont try to make it sound like it is said in germany it just sounds stupid. The turbo is from the porsche turfbo 3.3. And till tpoday i never had a car that had such a bad miles per gallon. he took 40 l per 100 kilometers PS it is called RS blue because it is allso porsaches colour which they used on the RS. A really sad performance from the audi service. A nd dont vory about the engine, it will never fail you. IF you come to a point when you cant find something, get back to me. enjoy

  • Okay we already know old Audis are great but what about my 2004 Mitsubishi RALLYART Lancer wagon?

  • E34 M5 3.8 Touring is cooler. Sorry

  • Big thumbs up from a fellow "Fast Wagon" guy. You know, they have the Golf R Wagon available in Europe. We are not so lucky. I hope to be able to import one some day. On that day, I will be as giddy as you were in this video. You are a lucky man, Doug.

  • This is just a bubble in fast vagons

  • That rear lightbar is another callback to Porsche.

  • Congrats Doug! You passionate guy!!

  • Great to see you got a dream came true!!

  • Someone sedate Doug

  • Insinuating saab was a Second choice. *triggere*

  • 0:45 hummer h2 lol

  • Have you tried a Porsche dealer?

  • Doug, you never cease to make me giddy about a car. Kudos to having such an entertaining and successful channel. As a grown up kid your age, I fully get how you feel about some of these cars. Keep up the great work.

  • You could just pay an importer to avoid the headache of doing it yourself

  • The lightbar in the back is supposed to emulate the look of Porsche 911 of the time, no?

  • No mention of the E34 M5 Touring?

  • The middle of the lightbar also resembles the 911, thats why the licensplate is in the bumper just like on a porsche

  • The E34 M5 Touring was earlier on the market then the RS2

  • they built a few sedans RS2 (faster than 911, that's why Porsche allowed only a Avant to produce... Did you know?

    • Audi produced like a handful rs2 sedans

  • I live in Europe and I realised that I have a blue RS2 on my street and I haven't noticed till today what a special car it is

  • Super cool! I'm a big fan although maintenance is clearly going to be an issue. Even for someone as well connected as Doug...

  • Why does Doug keep saying Poor-sha?

  • THHHHIIIS~!!!

  • I think the e91 335I has something to say about that

  • Missed Quirk: Front Driver Seat Coat Hanger. :)

  • Finally, somebody puttin some respek on the rs2's name

  • I got stiff when I saw this car

  • This is clean. Who details all your cars?

  • I would pick the vr4 wagon twin turbo over this but this thing is rare!

  • WTF is Porscha!?!? It's Porsche!!

  • I´ve been skiing with this car in Switzerland. What can I say. No snow on the Road, strict speed limits, but lots of salt. The Audi was realy sad he couldn´t do what he is supposed to do. To go 125 through Powder Snow.

  • Doug, why are you wearing double tshirts? Its okay you can tell us..

  • Like from Russia

  • There is only 1 mistake in this video the RS2 wasn´t the first performance wagon from germany. 1992 came the BMW E34 M5 wagon even if they sold only 891 of them. But still this is a great car one of the few Audis i realy like and a true future classic.

  • Two struggling brands in the 80s-90s helping each other out to survive, Now THAT's what I call teamwork

  • My brain: WOW THOSE LOOKS LIKE THE RIMS ON MY GRANDPAS 968! Doug: This car is deigned by Porsche Me:

  • The first sleeper. Love it deeply

  • If you ever have a problem finding spare parts in the USA at an Audi dealer, contact me, just leave a comment underneath, I'm Polish and I live in the Netherlands, we have a lot of Audi showrooms in Europe, I am living 4km from one of them, and every dealer know very well what RS2 is :) I can logistically help with shipping any spare part. In the Netherlands, everyone speaks English, so you can easily do the rest by phone :)

  • Doug the type of guy to spend $75k on a car that has no available parts for replacement in the US.

  • I love the Audi of this generation but you're totally crazy in my country in that state they're cheaper half if not more

  • For the parts issue, maybe just ask the Audi AG themselves? They might be as happy as punch to help out, similar to Lamborghini did with Lasersterling. On a second thought: Lamborghini is _owned_ by Audi .. so that might actually be not too far off? :) cu, w0lf.

  • Doug DeMuro Drinking Game - try to stand straight - after taking a shot following every time he mentions “Porsche” - GOOD LUCK TO YOUR LIVER!

  • Omg Doug. You are LITERALLY drunk! Spending THAT MUCH money for this vehicle you REALLY wanted this car 😂🤣 and you had JUST bought yourself a new Defender GO DOUG!

  • Youre very strange

  • Suzuki designed the read end

  • Nice wheels, congratulations Douglas! 👌👍😎

  • MY DREAM CAR!!!

  • You sausages in the U.S need to get your hand on a Lotus Carlton. You were totally stiffed of the good stuff back in the 90’s. Even your M3’s were rubbish compared to ours!

  • I didn't even notice the rear keyhole until you pointed it out 😂🤦‍♂️

  • hrdown.info/block/video/zHernNCIhayknrs here!

  • Doug, there are 17 of those in Brazil! Look for Flatout, they recently covered a RS2 gattering!

  • Hi Doug!! Congrats on the purchase of one of Europe's finest! Noticed the front seats have a seatback release catch - Porscke 911 seatbacks perhaps?

  • Both Porsche and Audi are part of Volkswagen, so I'd imagine Audi got VW to exert some influence with getting Porsche to build the RS2.

    • Not back then... Porsche became a part of VW in 2009 after Porsche tried to overtake VW and failed because of stock market... But the companies hat ties in their owners and CEO (but with a lot of rivalry, hence the overtaking thing), Porsche /Piech family members are owners of both Audi/VW/Porsche so it's not that mystical Porsche helped Piech 🤷‍♂️

  • Awesome purchase dude.

  • *laughs in volvo v70r*

  • You forgot the E34 M5 TOURING Bro, btw: nice white shirt under the other shirt :)

  • Wait... you gave the same score for styling: RS2 and CLS AMG Shooting Brake??!

  • Congratulations, Doug! I myself dream of a Saab 9-5 NG SportKombi... If yours has been barely possible to buy, mine is not at all! So... enjoy!

  • Audi be like: Look at my 350hp 2.2 porsche engine! Renault be like: 1.6 300hp go VROOM

  • Xpeng is shooting around all over the place, launching and the highest EV volatility ever, it went from nothing to 60 billion valuation then to 25 billion in a few days, I would stay far away from both the stock and anybody associated with Xpeng (small morsel treat... rough translation, which chinese laugh at), but the actually products, well, the the products themselves are absolutely fantastic for the pricing

  • cool factor rated a little high no on the road even cares or looks twice. maybe a 5 out of 10?

  • U don't even realise how much internal organs i am would be willing to give for this exact Audi model. S2 coupe or s1 sport not to mention

  • Some friends of mine have a variation on "that's what she said," and you invited it at 14:38. "...even though it is quite tight in the back." Just like a good date.

  • If Doug sold cars at a dealership he'd kill it

  • When did you leave Philly? I got all excited for a second there thinking I might see an RS2 around town!

  • That thing looks gay
